Meeting at school cafeteria on 9/22/2025 at 7pm
Over the last couple of years, the Hornet Booster Club has been able to accomplish two very important goals. The first of which is to secure 501(c)3 non-profit status. In doing so the club is now able to accept donations as well as look into furthering what we can achieve by applying for various grants and outside funding. The second goal which has been achieved is to develop by-laws allowing the organization to not only support high school athletic programs but also other programs through the school system including Speech and Drama, FFA, music, teachers, Academic Olympics just to name a few. This opportunity also allows support for not just high school level but K-12.
The club has been met with its few challenges though remain forward thinking on improving the Booster Club involvement in Hornet Country. The club is currently led with the usual board comprised of volunteers who are also paid members. One challenge is the idea that the volunteers on the board are the only members with input. In being an up-to-date member, individuals and businesses have voting rights as well as the option to present ideas! The club holds a set bi-annual meeting on the first Wednesday of January as well as August. Bi-monthly meetings are also held but on a more fluid basis to accommodate schedules. A second challenge is communication. As a society, we are met with obligations and life situations that don’t always allow for the time needed to know the ins and out of everything including volunteer organization.
We are hoping by making more of a public presence we can help to bridge the communication gap. The main purpose of the organization being to provide support services for activities that are consistent with the educational philosophy of White Sulphur Springs Public School. These services will promote participation and access to activities and opportunities for all students. During the last couple of years, the Hornet Booster Club has been able to provide Hornet Spirit coolers for organized competitions, fund new mouth guards and needed equipment for football, purchase new jerseys for volleyball, and boys and girls basketball, purchase new track uniforms and secured spring practice equipment for golf and game polos as well as funded the spring awards banquet meal. The group has also worked to keep tradition alive by presenting varsity letter recipients with Hornet garment bags and updating the Hornet student athlete wall quarterly.
These achievements have only been made possible with the support of the annual dues from Booster Club members and fundraising done by the club volunteers. As an organization, we hope to continue our collaboration with Hornet Country in providing resources, so every child, athlete, and teacher has an opportunity to excel.
